The Hibiscus Coast Concert Band recently competed in the New Zealand Concert Band Festival held in Auckland, receiving a Silver Award. We performed a selection of pieces, selected both for their technical aspects as well as their swing and fun personality, which the band is known for. The line up of pieces included:
– In the Centre Ring by Robert Sheldon
– Jitterbug by Robert Buckley
– Wind Jammer by Robert Buckley
– The Light Eternal by James Swearingen
The adjudicators were impressed with our band commenting “It was great to see a community band performing good music well”. This is the second time we have attended and are proud of our accomplishments after having only been running for 3 years.
Next year we are hoping to have an even more rounded band and perform even better.
